Long Island USBC Hall of Fame

Founded by the Nassau-Suffolk Bowling Council (NSBC) in 1962, the purpose of the “Long Island Bowlers’ Hall of Fame” was to “recognize a person who has contributed to the sport of bowling in Nassau or Suffolk County, either by promoting the game, good sportsmanship, or bowling ability.” Initially limited to residents of Nassau and Suffolk, the LIUSBC Hall of Fame now recognizes individuals who have positively influenced bowling in Nassau and Suffolk, regardless of their current residence. When the NSBC disbanded in the early 1990s, officers from the Eastern Long Island BA, Long Island Junior BA, Nassau County Women’s BA, and Suffolk County Women’s BA assumed the role of selecting honorees. Following the merger of the associations in 2005, the LIUSBC Hall of Fame was established.

Each spring, the LIUSBC Hall of Fame Committee evaluates the credentials of nominees and presents its recommendations to the LIUSBC Board of Directors, who vote to determine who is ultimately inducted into the LIUSBC Hall of Fame. Inductees are honored at the annual LIUSBC Awards Banquet in August. Bowlers are nominated for induction in one of three categories:

• Superior Performance: Recognizes bowlers with exceptional on-lane achievements, like winning tournaments and maintaining high averages. Special consideration is given to outstanding performances in LIUSBC-sponsored tournaments.
• Meritorious Service: Honors individuals who made significant contributions to the sport through service, promotion, or other non-playing roles. Special consideration is given to service to the LIUSBC.
• Pioneer: Honors individuals for accomplishments before the establishment of the Nassau-Suffolk Bowling Council in 1949.
